Today’s quotation is in relation to the Inner Development Goal of
Empathy and compassion.
The IDG website has this to say about it:
“Ability to relate to others, oneself and nature with kindness, empathy and compassion and address related suffering.”
My response is:
“For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.” – Carl Sagan
And you? What are your thoughts?
On 31 October I am running a free online creative conversation about the IDGs. More information and bookings here.
Yesterday I found out I have dyslexia.. I'm 45 this week and have spent 20 years teaching at tertiary level negotiating/ disguising this due to this 'condition' being seen as a 'disability' in our culture. I choose to met this discovery with kindness even excitement as to what this means to my thinking. I have great empathy for people who are told this is a limitation and great compassion for people like me who have learnt 'tricks' to thrive 'despite' this challenge. For me if it were not for computers and spell check I would not have enjoyed the options I have had in my life and may have even believed the negative stigma associated!
