Hi there,
This fortnight’s creative prompt is inspired by this wonderful quotation by Milan Kundera:
"The characters in my novels are my own unrealised possibilities. That is why I am equally fond of them all and equally horrified by them. Each one has crossed a border that I myself have circumvented." - Milan Kundera
So, what I’m suggesting you do is to imagine a character based on your worst characteristics and then another character based on your best.
You could:
Write a description of them
Script a monologue for each of them or write a dialogue between them
Draw them
Sculpt or mold them
Improvise them in movement or speech.
If none of that appeals then why not cook for them – what do you imagine their favourite meals to be? Design a menu for them. Map out a holiday itinerary that would appeal to each of them. Recommend books or movies for them.
And then after you imagine them into being, what do you find that they have to say to you or show you about yourself?
I have a workshop coming up:
And I’d love to see you there.
Shared values and collaboration mindset: A creative and interactive workshop that inspires and equips you to identify and develop a shared set of values to underpin creative collaborations.
Online. 21 Nov. 11am-1pm Melbourne/Sydney time. Bookings and information HERE.
I’ll send through another creative prompt in a fortnight’s time. If you are a paid subscriber then you will get something special to read next week.
Keep well!
I think that picture will haunt me!
