Your daily creative prompt
Welcome!
I hope you enjoyed your first creative prompt.
Your creative prompt for today is based on a facilitation game I created called The Lazy Assumption Game.
As well as using this as a prompt for a piece of writing or a sketch, this is also fun to play if you find yourself stuck in a queue or a crowded bus or train with lots of faces to look at.
Here’s how you play:
Look at the picture below. Make something up about the person you see in the picture. Maybe:
· Who are they?
· What have they just been doing?
· What are they about to do?
Or just grab the first impression that comes into your mind. It’s important not to censor your imagination. Work off impulse.
The second step is to make up another mini story about the same person, but this time challenge yourself to create a story that is the opposite or subversive or contrary to what you spontaneously imagined initially. For example, if you assumed the person was good at cooking, make them into a notorious poisoner in the second story. If you assumed they were religious in the first story then imagine them as being, say, the leader of an atheists’ club in the second.
Give your imagination a little workout.
Here are some other images to play with if the one above doesn’t grab your fancy. Or substitute other faces around you during your day.
I’ll let you know where I got the photographs from tomorrow.
Have a great day and see you tomorrow!
