Welcome to today’s advent calendar treat.
We only have a few more sleeps until Christmas, and then not long until the end of the year. I don’t know about you but I’m tired and longing for a holiday. So today I thought I’d ask you to let your imagination play.
Do you know what synaesthesia is?
It’s a neurological condition whereby synesthetes, as they are called, experience one or more senses in terms of another, e.g. tasting / feeling food as textures. I hear / see music in terms of colours and shapes (I’m a big fan of golden brown music but can’t stand khaki sounding stuff).
So, I want to invite you to imagine that you’re a synesthete.
I’m going to give you a colour and I want you to imagine:
What it would feel like
What it would taste like
What it would smell like
What it would sound like.
This is actually a great technique for lifting your thinking and imagining out of the everyday and also for embodying the imagination. Try it the next time you feel stale or blocked.

If you like what I do, maybe put a little something in my Christmas stocking by leaving me a tip at Ko-Fi.
