This one is an excerpt from a game* I invented called Bewildered.
It was inspired by the etymology of the word ‘bewilder’; it turns out that ‘wilder’ is an archaic word meaning “lead astray, lure into the wilds."
So, let’s take a walk in the wilds of your imagination.
Imagine that you are walking through a forest.
What does it look like? Sound, smell, feel like?
Are you happy to be there? Afraid? Bemused?
As you walk along through the forest, what do you see up ahead? Describe the landscape, the weather, the conditions you think you will encounter.
As you walk along, you hear some rustling in some nearby bushes.
Are you curious? Disinterested? Nervous?
Will you go and have a look, or just keep walking?
Before you can decide, something emerges from the bushes…
You take over from here. What happens next?
*As well as the Bewildered game, I also invented The Etymology Game. Both are designed to help people make sense of the crazy times we are living through by using the imagination and storytelling skills. Contact me if you would like to know more, or just be put on the mailing list for when I run them in 2022.
